The information here is built from my listening habits by last.fm.
There's a wee plugin, called Audioscrobbler, which goes into Winamp. Audioscrobbler tells last.fm everything you listen to, last.fm then builds a profile of your musical tastes.
Another thing last.fm can do is make suggestions, based on what you've already listened too, on other music you may be interested in.

The reason I use last.fm is because the profile they build can be used in other applications.
For example, I wrote a plugin for Winamp, called Cygnus, that lets me load my albums via a web page. None of this nasty messing around with swapping CDs for me! I simply login to the web page and either search or browse for whatever I fancy. I use the last.fm data of my favourite artists to build a page that lets me select those directly.
The web page to my Winamp is here: -
